Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS)
MIGS
At Cool Springs Surgical Associates, we are proud to offer a full spectrum of modern glaucoma treatments, including the latest advancements in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). Our team of surgeons offers personalized care using techniques that reduce eye pressure and slow down the progression of glaucoma while minimizing recovery time and surgical risks. For many patients with mild to moderate glaucoma, MIGS procedures can be performed at the time of cataract surgery—maximizing the benefits of a single surgery and reducing patients’ need for glaucoma eye drops.
We offer a range of MIGS options tailored to each patient’s unique needs. These include the iStent and Hydrus Microstent, both of which are microscopic implants placed into the eye’s natural drainage system to enhance outflow and lower the eye pressure. For patients who may not be candidates for stents or who require more targeted treatment, goniotomy is another effective option. This technique involves opening up about 20-30% of the eye’s natural drainage pathway with no implants left in the eye.
In addition to surgical interventions, our surgeons offers a variety of non-invasive glaucoma treatments. One of the most effective options is Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)—a quick, in-office laser procedure that uses low-energy pulses to gently stimulate the eye’s drainage system. SLT can significantly reduce eye pressure and may reduce or eliminate the need for daily glaucoma drops, especially in early to moderate disease.
Whether managing early glaucoma or addressing pressure concerns during cataract surgery, Cool Springs Surgical Associates is committed to using the most advanced, patient-friendly treatment options available. Our physicians combine surgical expertise with individualized care to help preserve vision and improve quality of life for every glaucoma patient
